My greetings to all of you!
I am humbled to give you an update of our union since July 4th 2011.
Upon and after the election, we created and streamlined our committees to make our task ahead easier in-order for our AIDU family channels of communication to move faster. We removed some emails after a while to help and free our email list. The new executive created new committees and streamlined some. We did things necessary to better serve you and our larger Amiri people.
Although our leadership has changed, our core mission and goals remain the same, and among other things, we have done so to better and effectively serve you so that we can make an enduring and lasting difference for our selves and our people in Amiri. As part of my commitment to strengthen our effort in-order to deliver for you and our people, all budgetary expenditures shall and must now come from various committees.
As part of the new requirement that is involved with spending the union's funds, each committee has to submit a budget after such a committee has fully assessed and conducted a full review of the needs and why such expenditure is necessary. The chairman of each committee is required to submit to the executive a quarterly report. To date, we are yet to receive their reports.
We have therefore not asked for any budgetary expenditure until we receive the request for funding. Trust me, your money is in the bank
with the exception of miscellaneous expenses which we have to make to run our day to day activity.
Since taking office the new administration has initiated and been engaged on but not limited to the following:
-
Changed the account signatories with the Bank.
-
Filed the union's Tax Returns.
Filed papers with the IRS for the reactivation of the union's 501 c3 status, through the assistance and help of the union's compliance committee chairman, Dr. Kenneth Onyima.
-
The union as well filed papers with the State of Oregon for chapter compliance with the assistance and help of the founding President, Dr. Gerry
Uba.
-
Resolved our position with respect to priesthood ordination and the burial of our late Ezes with the assistance and help of our VP, who headed the Ad hoc committee.
-
Witnessed the handing over of the
$8000.00 water borehole project at the Oru General Hospital in Amiri.
-
Met with the Oru East LGA chairman and the chairman for works.
-
Met with our legal liaison Barrister Felix Onyemedia regarding making our needs and getting our fair share of the pie from the Local and
Imo State Governments.
Encouraged him to arrange bi-monthly meetings with all the Ezes and the councilors to meet and discuss ideas and ways to move Amiri forward. Encouraged work with our councilors and monitor when funds for projects become available.
-
Met with Prince & Mrs. Eugene & Bertha Ezeoba to thank them for the assistance for the recent grant for water extension work in Amiri. Encouraged them to continue to work with Barrister Onyemedia to see that Amiri town is not left out from getting our fair share from the local and
State governments.
As the Christmas season draws near, the committee involved will be traveling and the opportunity will be there for all to meet with the
Ezes, councilors and the Barrister for open discussion regarding our security and youth empowerment. There are many other areas to work on, however the executive is yet to receive the necessary assessment from each
of the committee chairmen.
We are hopeful that as many of our people travel home and return, we will have a lot of the information needed for us to have a comprehensive understanding of where and where we shall and must channel our limited resources. I will
be contacting the VP after the thanksgiving holiday to find out the rest of the details as the Christmas travel season draws near.
I thank you for your support and wish each of us a memorable thanksgiving during this travel period.
