THE 2024 UMUOCHETA COMMUNITY WATER PROJECT, SPONSORED BY AMIRI INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT UNION (AIDU) USA – An Update –
Upon receiving the $3,000 from AIDU, representatives from the four kindreds of Umuocheta had a number of meetings. After weighing and considering different aspects of the water project, a decision was unanimously reached. It was certain that the $3,000 would not be enough to complete the project. However, when every option was tossed up and down, it was agreed that the bore-hole and the water-tank carrier must be done without delay.
The estimated amount to complete the water project was 6.5m naira. The tank-stand and the bore-hole took 4m. The balance now is 249,000 naira (details below). At this point, we are making efforts to raise funds, to see that the project is completed as soon as possible. This is an uphill battle, considering the present economic situation across the world. This was weighed in during the meetings, before embarking on the project. As afore-hinted, and as things stand now, it was the best decision to tackle the main aspects of the project (the bore-hole and the tank-stand) head-on, without blinking. They are conspicuously visible in the fenced premises of St. Michael’s Parish. Yes, every one is seeing them. The project must be completed.
We are appealing to our people to chip in something, so we can raise the 2.5M Naira needed to round up the project.
MAY GOD SHOWER BLESSINGS ON AIDU, FOR HER GREAT EFFORTS IN MAKING AMIRI A LIVABLE PLACE! LONG LIVE AMIRI ANCIENT KINGDOM!
